Unionen

UI/UX/Design OPS

Unionen are Swedens largest trade union, organizing over 600 000 members and 27 000 elected union representatives throughout the private sector. The last four years, I’ve been working with Unionen to help them on their digitalization journey.

Quizduel 2

Game Design/Art Direction/UX/UI/Animation

Quizduel 2 was the planned sequel of the hit trivia game Quizduel (Quizkampen in Sweden). As the lead product designer for the quiz game QuizClash 2, I was responsible for the overall visual identity, UI and game experience as well as creating animations and visual effects in the game engine.

Kollega.se

UX/UI

Kollega is the independent journalistic branch of Unionen – the largest union in Sweden. In addition to their monthly magazine they also have an online newspaper which I helped them do a complete redesign for.

Matduellen

Concept/Art Direction/Design/UX

In Matduellen, sixteen of Kungshallens dishes gets matched up in 1v1 duels where the user decides the winner until only one dish remain. There's just one catch – you only have three seconds decide between each pair of dishes, so listen to your gut feeling and decide fast!

Helly Hansen #weloverain

Design/Video production

Digital billboards connected to rain meters allowed Helly Hansen to sell more rainwear by having them come to life when it rained, matching the weather on the screen.

Lingo Lords

Game Design/UX/UI/Illustration

In Lingo Lords you compete in five-round turn-based matches against fierce opponents from all around the world. Move and rotate blocks – deploy powerups like Swap Block and Infiltrate – then swipe to get those big fancy words, score big and reach the top lists.

Bio

My name is Mikael Andersson and I’ve been designing stuff for as long as I can remember.

I'm a Digital Designer with a broad knowledge base, ranging from from UX/UI to digital marketing and game design. My greatest strengths are in UI design and DesignOPS – maintaining complex design systems and bridging the gap between requirements, design, and development. When given the opportunity, I take special pride in perfecting my designs, pushing pixels and tinkering with the tiny details.

During my years in the industry, I’ve been working with all kinds of clients. From large international corporations as Pfizer and Bridgestone to big Swedish organizations as Unionen and Cloetta, all the way down to baby food startups and local spas.

I’m based in Bromma outside Stockholm. When I’m not at home tinkering with some personal design project or with my friends playing board games, you can usually find me outdoors in nature.

Work Experience

Digitalist Sweden, 2018-2023

UX/Digital Designer

At Digitalist, I’m working with several of our big clients, maintaining and improving their websites design and user experience through interviews, prototyping, and UI design. I set up and maintain complex design systems, support the requirement work and help to bridge the gap between design and development.

FEO Media, 2017-2018

UX/UI Game Artist

At FEO Media, I worked on Quizkampen Business, the enterprise version of Quizkampen (Quizclash), primarily working on designing a new interface for the admin panel where the clients could manage their quizzes and question database. I also worked with the marketing department, creating brochures, folders and landing pages for the sales team behind Quizkampen Business.

After 6 months at FEO I changed teams and became the lead designer for Quizclash 2. I designed the new visual identity, created wireframes and UI art which I implemented in Unity together with the developers. I also worked on visual effects and animations as well as participating in the overall game design process.

Solid Agency, 2012-2017

Graphic/UX Designer (2012-2015), Art Director/UX (2015-2017)

At Solid Agency, I spent my first years working as a graphic/UX designer, primarily designing web apps, browser games, and campaign sites. As the company grew, so did my responsibilities. I started working closer to our clients and took a bigger part in the concept creation process. I also did more varied work, including company branding, social media campaigns, photography and VFX.

The last year, my primary area of work was creating communication concepts for various social media platforms. I also worked close together with our copywriters and photographers to create content based on the communications concepts.

The brands I worked with during my time at Solid Agency included Ahlgrens Bilar, Helly Hansen, L'Oreal Paris, Malaco and Pfizer to name a few.

Lennandia Advertising, 2011

Graphic Designer

At Lennandia Advertising, I had a temporary employment during the summer holidays. The work involved updating text and image content in brochures and adjusting the layout when needed, as well as some image retouching and print design.

Sydöstran Newspaper, 2010

Production Artist

I had temporary employment during the summer and winter holidays at the local morning newspaper Sydöstran. The work involved layouting the pages, fitting articles, and images, creating news graphics as well as occasionally rewriting articles that were too long or too short to fit the page.
